The Streets of Baltimore

I’m off to Baltimore, Maryland to attend the annual meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society. It will be only my second trip to Charm City — and I’m not sure that attending a conference hosted at the Hilton while staying in a room with a view (I’m promised) of Camden Yards is quite a representative experience of Baltimore.

So I expect neither to blog very much in the next three days, nor to experience anything that will displace the following pop culture artifacts that have indelibly shaped my impressions of Maryland’s largest city:

Frank Pembleton in The Box. I just can’t bring myself to watch Andre Braugher play a cop opposite Andy Samberg, even if it’s in a show from the producers of Parks and Recreation

Already wrote about this back on Labor Day 2011… Skip ahead to 1:34:50 and 1:47:00 for the magic.

“Well, her heart was filled with gladness when she saw those city lights / She said the prettiest place on earth was Baltimore at night.”
