Brantley Gasaway on My ETS Paper

12/26/13 – Over at the Religion in American History blog, Brantley Gasaway was kind enough to draw readers’ attention to my Evangelical Theological Society paper that encouraged an international/transnational turn in the history of evangelicalism. (My paper was a response to David Swartz’s chapter on Latin American evangelicals in Moral Minority; Gasaway interviewed Swartz last year at RAH about their shared interest in politically progressive evangelicals.) I’m especially honored that he’d put me in the same sentence with two vastly more significant scholars: “I appreciated Gehrz’s argument, and his proposal seems in line with the helpful ways that scholars such as Philip Jenkins and Lamin Sanneh have challenged us to re-examine our understanding of global Christianity (or, perhaps, Christianities).”
