11/23/12 – I’m happy to announce that I’ll be the featured speaker at the annual Winter Seminar offered by Bethlehem Covenant Church in Minneapolis, MN. I’ll be speaking February 8-10, 2013 on the theme of “Pious Wishes and Better Times: The Pietist Impulse in the 21st Century.”
We’ll start Friday night with a historical overview of Pietism and its resonance with some contemporary issues in Christianity, then narrow things a bit on Saturday morning by looking at Pietist approaches to education and cultural engagement. Finally, I’ll teach a Sunday school class on Pietism in the history of the Evangelical Covenant Church, in between preaching in Bethlehem’s two worship services.
Thanks to the people of Bethlehem and their senior pastor, Ryan Eikenbary-Barber (one of the panelists for our April roundtable on Pietism and the present-day church), for inviting me to speak. Stay tuned for more details — I hope to see you there!
