4/13/12 – Hot off the press from Wipf & Stock, publisher of our The Pietist Impulse in Christianity, is another book about an “impulse” in Christianity. Edited by Jared S. Burkholder and David C. Cramer, The Activist Impulse: Essays on the Intersection of Evangelicalism and Anabaptism brings together chapters by John Roth, Steven Nolt, John Fea, and others. Jared wrote a brief preview at his blog earlier this year.
I’m excited to get my copy, in part because I hope it will help me think through an article I’m writing on Anabaptist and Evangelical critiques of Pietism.
Thanks Chris!
Yeah, thanks, Chris. I’d love to hear your thoughts after reading it. Note: its contents can now be previewed on Amazon.
Chris, another good resource for you to consider would be “Between Remnant and Renewal: A Historical and Comparative Study of the ‘Apostolic Christian Church’ Among Neo-Anabaptist Renewal Movements in Europe and America” by Joseph Pfeiffer. It’s his 200+ page Masters thesis and he spends a good deal of time talking about the relationship between Anabaptism, Evangelicalism and Pietism.
Thanks, Blake! I’ll see if I can track it down.
