For those readers living in the Twin Cities metro area, I encourage you to join us at Salem Covenant Church in New Brighton, MN on February 17-19, as we present the 2012 installment of the Hagman Lecture Series, entitled Across the Divides: Across Cultures, Across Generations.
Our speaker for the weekend will be Dr. Soong-Chan Rah, Milton E. Engebretson associate professor of church growth and evangelism at North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago. A popular speaker and writer, Dr. Rah was founding pastor of Cambridge Community Fellowship Church, a multi-ethnic, urban, post-modern church in Cambridge, Massachusetts and is the author of The Next Evangelicalism: Freeing the Church from Western Cultural Captivity and Many Colors: Cultural Intelligence for a Changing Church.
The series will be in three parts. Dr. Rah will lead two workshops: “Understanding the Need: Our Changing World” on Friday evening, February 17, 7pm; and “From Generation to Generation: Examining a Social History of American Christianity” on Saturday morning, February 18, 9:30am. Then he’ll preach at our three Sunday morning worship services (8:30am, 9:50am, 11:00am): “Reaching Across the Divide: Understanding Mercy from the Prophet Jeremiah.”
